OPINION: Publicity Cannot Go Wrong! - Mr. Best Writes
Earlier today, I had an intellectual conversation with Eloo Drines ML . He is an amazing guy. We discussed publicity and tried to figure out if one could say a publicity is good or bad. I reminded him of the saying believed to be associated with an American show man, Phineas T. Barnum that "There's no such thing as bad publicity".
I keep saying this, or else one decides not to use the word publicity, maybe find some other word. Since publicity according to Oxford dictionary means a notice or attention given to someone or something by the media. It can either be successful or unsuccessful. Successful when
it gets to the desired target audience, then the latter when it fails to have their attention.
In my opinion, you can't be killing yourself talking about and sharing someone's gist and still say it's a bad publicity biko. The most important thing is that they are still relevant. One would ask, what about the consequences of being on the news for negativity? Wouldn't it affect the brand or a person? This is it, while it puts negative energy toward the organization or individual, it also gives them a unique chance to be in the spotlight, respond well to the negativity, and come back stronger, especially if they have something to offer.
Don't come here and site the case of the 'Cucumber girl' for me because I will disappoint you. I know a million and one people who will take advantage of that massive exposure. i.e Angela Nwosu.
If Skibi had something the industry want, our rants wouldn't have stopped his shine. When his death news was all over the internet, we rushed to download his songs, most of us who no longer have them on our playlist, don't because he didn't offer what we wanted.
