Hundreds of protesting students of the Obafemi Awolowo University have held a presidential convoy hostage in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The convoy led by a Toyota bullet proof SUV with 'Presidency' inscription and registration number, FG902-B02, tried to drive through the students who were protesting an increase in fees by the university management. Security details attached to the convoy then shot, perhaps to scare the protesters, with two of the students reportedly sustaining injuries. "The security details shot at us. We have held them hostage. We will not let him go." One of the leaders of the protest told PRENUIM TIMES on phone. The students were protesting, on the Ife Express road, the increase in their school fees by the university management when the 6-vehicle convoy arrived. The university management increased the fees from about N17,000 to over N100,000. "We demand a total reversal to statusquo," the student leader said. It is not yet clear who

Amidst the hot protests going on in the western part of Nigeria (Ife to be precise), reports have been gathered that the school management is not going back on reducing the school fees. Residents of Mary Mbgada hostel (Opposite SalesMan Lodge) woke-up on Saturday morning to notice a charm tied to their gate and another pot carefully placed inside the compound. Out of fear they contacted the Anti-cult squad which were accompanied by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). According to reports, the charm was not meant for the students but for the caretaker of the lodge. Some of the student residents who spoke with GistMeANSU said the lodge rarely see peace. They would always complain of one problem to another. Even the anticult is tired of their unending wahala. Expect story in details as it develops...

Thirty-one year old Ade Ogunbowale, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from one of the universities in the country shared his success story as a scavenger with Ebun Sessou in a 30-minute interactive session in Oko-Afa area of Isolo, Lagos State recently. Ogunbowale could not secure a job after his B.Sc degree and joined the legion of unemployed graduates three years ago. According to him, he carved a niche for himself and became a scavenger at a dump site in Oko-Afa.

There was pandemonium in Ilobu town,  Irepodun local government area of Osun state when a dead man was discovered in an open grave with a shovel beside him. According to residents, the man who was described to be middle aged may have been attempting to exhume a corpse for ritual purposes from the grave he was discovered stone dead. The death of the suspected ritualist gave the residents an eerie feeling as they told newsmen that the man may have been struck down by the ‘spirit’ of the corpse he was trying to exhume. The identity of the man is yet to be ascertained.

Gist Me TV was present at Uli campus for the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected S.U.G representatives. All the positions were sworn in except the President and the Director of Socials both from Uli campus who have outstanding petitions still undergoing investigation by the tribunal. From all indications, their problems are G.P related. But an insider told Mr. Best that the positions might me sworn in next week.  Lastly, I must thank Uli campus for showing so much love. Recently I have been too occupied with events; especially sleep sapping one. So its resultant effect is late posting but I know you guys would understand. Mz Casino added one on 9th May and her amazing friends shocked her with a surprise birthday.  Funny enough I was made the chairman of the occasion heheheheh. It was fun anyway. Alot of big names were present at this occasion. The pictures would tell better.

These pictures took long though. And I apologize solemnly. On Saturday 10th May, members of the Gegite club all over Nigeria gathered at Igbariam campus for their Annual 'World Jara'. In the heat of the program, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) raided the venue and took away some of the top officials of this social group. Also, 5 gegite members who were sent to bring the food for the ceremony were attacked by armed robbers at Abba junction. Two of the guys sustained serious injuries while the only girl in their midst stripped naked and almost raped.

At around 8:00pm today, the Special Anti-Robery Squad (SARS) ran into Isi Agu (The. Fast food across Igbariam junction) and bundled 32 active young men who comprised of both students and non-students who came for the 'Unity Jara' which was organised by the Kegite Club. The event automatically stopped. SARS said there was a case of kidnapping in that very fast food at around last week and that proper permissions were not taken from the authorities. They also complained that no security body was notified of such a sensitive gathering. Students are advised to always inform the anti-cult on any gathering involving more than 20persons. The video of a girl that was buried up to her neck and stoned to death is making rounds among the Nigerian social media community today, with claims that it’s a recent video of Boko Haram killing one of the abducted Chibok girls in Sambisa. While the video is very gory, it isn't recent. In fact, it happened in 2008 and it was in Somalia. I delved into some research to find the accompanying article of the video. A physician, Dr Nkechi Asogwa, on Tuesday in Lagos, identified  cancer, HIV,  infertility and  short life span as major risk factors associated with homosexuality. Asogwa, who is also the Secretary, Doctors Health Initiative, a civil rights group, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that homosexual behaviour represented a serious threat to individual and public health. “Usually among homosexual community you have the prevalence of what is known as the Human Papilloma Virus and this could lead to anal cancers.

Lagos State AIDS Control Agency has revealed that 1,702 pregnant women in the state tested positive to HIV and had to be placed on prophylaxis. Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who recently disclosed the statistics added that 1,143 babies that had been exposed to HIV were also placed on prophylaxis . “The agency was able to carry out in the last one year HIV Counselling and Testing, HIC, during which a total of 115,424 clients were counselled atthe health facilities. 40,997 pregnant women were counselled and tested through TBA outreaches.

Heart wrenching story as reported by PUNCH: A suspected r@pist who was allegedly refused s*x by a grade six pupil of Young Tajudeen Middle School, Ede, Osun State (name withheld) attacked his victim and inflicted injuries on her. The assailant, who some claimed was a ritual killer, inflicted machete cuts on the 15-year-old girl’s head, legs and wrist. PUNCH gathered that the pupil was living with her grandmother in Ede, Osun State, while her mother lived in Lagos State.

When my boss sent me these pictures and gist to upload, I paused then cried. Well, Rest in peace dear. The lady whose picture you are seeing is a 400level Marketing student of our institution. She is named Oforah Chika. Chika kicked the bucket after a brief illness. Information reaching us says she returned from the 2days Easter break unsound to attend a compulsory lecture scheduled for 23rd April at 7 am but unfortunately could not see today. Her burial is coming up on the 7th of this month. Meanwhile, Chika's classmates would mourn her specially on Monday as they are to parade the school premises (Igbariam Campus) dressed in black.

Our sister school/campus; Faculty of  Clinical Medicine Anambra State University Teaching Hospital (ANSUTH) Amaku, Awka succesfully conducted their S.U.G senate election yesterday. A total of 5 aspirants vied for the position which needed just two persons. The election ended with the emergence of  Ezenwaka Kizito and Anameje Steven as winners.  And to everybody at Amaku Awka, the entire G.M.A crew is shouting out. Amarachi being attended to Firstly, I apologize for bringing these pictures late. Between the end of last week and yesterday, school road has recorded eight (8) fatal accidents which were as a result of over speeding by bike men. These pictures are from some of the accidents. Ogechukwu Udo, is a 100level Philosophy student, the accident which made her loose her fingers happened on Sunday 27th April on her way back from church. One of the bike men involved in the accident is said to be in a critical condition as he lost his spinal-cord. On Monday 28th April, Amarachi a 100 level public administration student who had just alighted from the school shuttle was hit by a bike man carrying a non-student. The accident took place along St. Raphel lodge at Otoko. Amarachi was rushed to the hospital by Biggy the newly elected director of socials and a few other eye witnesses.
