Ansu FM Radio takes off Soon
A reliable source told GIST-ME-ANSU that the long awaited Eagles FM, the training radio station for students of Mass Communication in Anambra State University will soon be on air. The head, department of Mass Communication, Professor Chude Okonkwor disclosed this in a chat with ANSU news.
The Head of Department who said the radio and television demonstration studios were part of the facilities which the department presented to the National University commission (NUC) team during the 2012 accreditation exercise said the management was looking at different proposals from contractors who want the radio studio to on air.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fidelis Okafor, during one of his interaction session with the academic staff on the department said making the studio functional was part of his programme aimed at making the department centre of excellence.
He said though the radio and television studio were meeting the training needs of the department as a demonstration studio, if the radio station goes on air, it would meet the information needs of the university and neighbouring communities.
The Vice Chancellor said his administration was interested in the radio because if tits importance in the training of the students and the information needs of the peoples.
If the radio station goes on air, ANSU will join the league of universities with operational radio station.
Presently, two universities in Anambra state operate FM radio station. The universities are Namdi Azikiwe University operating Unizik FM at 94.1 FM while Madonna University operates Madonna University FM at 93.3 FM.
