Gist-Me-ANSU was at Enugu's River Jordan yesterday.
I promised to visit Enugu's River Jordan for you yesterday, but a lot of emails and PINGs suggested I send somebody else while I attend to other crucial matters. And that was exactly what I did. Kossy, is a top ranked G.M.A executive, and he has gone and come back.
REPORT:
“I was at least expecting to see one sick person receive instant healing at the River because that was the kind of story I heard before I came, but as I speak with you, I have spent two hours here and I have not seen anybody jumping up and praising God for receiving any miracle”, one visitor said with disappointment.
Invisible sources have continued to attribute miraculous powers to the River. However, from the health perspective, what is happening in Nachi is not the right thing to do. People take their bath in the water; people defecate there, people urinate there, all kinds of sicknesses are brought into that water, yet people fetch and drink the same water. I can tell you that the Nachi Water is a ground work for disaster waiting to happen.
It could also be re-called that one of the eldest man in the community, Chief Festus Ude had also expressed surprise over the much talked about healing powers of the River.
According to him, “the last time it appeared was in 1992, and at that time, it just formed a small stream, which later disappeared. It has never been as large as this. This is all I know, we have never known about its healing power, this is the first time we are hearing about healing, I don’t know whether it is true, we equally heard it like you did”.
Findings have shown that no visitor to the River has actually witnessed any on-the-spot healing.
All the miracle seekers interviewed by Kossy claimed to have come after hearing that some persons got their healing in the River. However, when asked to mention the name of those persons healed, they were unable to do so.
I know that in this environment we have the community health workers, they have the ministry of health; they should take a look at that water; it is not hygienic at all; it is not a good thing to do; it is a stagnant water; it does not flow and in there, you come with your won illness, put it there, somebody else comes, puts his own there. It is really what we call disaster waiting to happen, and when the health implications will come, they may have forgotten their encounter with that dirty water.
