Kano Sponsors 300 Students On Scholarship For Overseas Medical Training

The Kano State Government has said that the recent batch of 300 medical students proceeding on foreign scholarship would cost the state N2.7 billion.

 At a send-off ceremony organised for the students at the Government House in Kano, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso said his administration was able to embark on the initiative through aggressive internal revenuegeneration and prudent management of resources.

The governor said the government had spent billions of naira on funding 501 as well as other students on pilot studies abroad as partof the measures to restore Kano’s past glory.
He said to enhance the development of education, his administration had embarked on massive construction of classrooms in many parts of the state.
However, reiterated his administration’s determination to embark on independent power project to facilitate robust economic growth of the state.
The 300 medical students are proceeding to India, Egypt, Uganda, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia for their training.


100 male and female will study medicine while 100 female will study gynecology and the remaining 100 are to study pharmaceutical sciences.
Meanwhile, the state government disclosed that soon another set of 500 will be leaving the country to study in various courses of their specialization.

Which is nice one instead of investing money on wht will yield profit for d country at large wht do we need more 300 doctors for were our hospitals are not well equipped do u know that nigeria has more doctors than all the west african states put together this money should hv been channeled to equipping hospitals or even u send those 300 students to were d will develop skills in technology or mechanized Agriculture that will help create jobs and improve the economy for me is a right move in a wrong direction.
