I want to use this medium to register my
solidarity to the ANSU students who
protested against what I will call security
inefficiency within the school community.
The Government failed to secure the life
and property of the students and allow them to be humiliated by armed robbers
and hoodlums. This is a campus that is
situated not far from Awkuzu SARS, a
police outfit in charge of Armed robbery.
Does it mean that the security personnel
purposely allowed the situation like that? Or they can't protect the students? A
situation where students where robbed
and killed calls for a serious attention.
Closing and reopening the school without
addressing this issue will not be tolerated.
I urge the Government of Anambra state to look into the security situation and provide
solution to the menace. It was reported
that the last incidence lasted for about
2hours and no security came to rescue
them. This is also a school that has security
within the school like Anti-cult. What is now the work of the security and anti cult
within the school. Have they proved that
they can't secure the lives and property of
the students. The management led by the
Vice-chancellor and the Gov Peter Obi led
Administration to provide adequate security to the students of Anambra State
University. All other higher institution
within Anambra state should be properly
secured. The presence of the security shall
not be to intimidate, witch-hunt or
humiliate the students as has been the case in so many occasion.
The security has to work with the students'
union Government in protecting the
student. I pray that the good Lord accept the souls
of those who lost their life in the robbery
incident and may their soul rest in peace. I humbly console the students Union
Government of ANSU, families of those
who lost their life, the entire University and
Nigerian students for the loss. May we find
fortitude in the lord to bear the loss. I also en join all progressive students to
condemn the devilish act of the armed
robbers.
